WHY Urbana Theological Seminary?
- Scripture is the bottom line. Urbana Theological Seminary is grounded firmly in the historical Christian faith revealed in the Bible. The Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are our authority for belief and living.
- We put students first. We desire that each student would love God more deeply, know His truth more profoundly, and practically use it in daily serving Him. We demonstrate this commitment through accessible professors, quality student services, and flexible curriculum. Since our work is a ministry, we strive to keep costs low and accessible for everyone.
- Tools for the future. An education at Urbana Theological Seminary equips the student with resources needed for ministry in the years ahead. Each individual should know what he or she believes and why, and be able to provide biblical responses to the rapidly changing culture of our world.
- Our diversity mirrors the kingdom. Urbana Theological Seminary is an interdenominational school, training students from many different backgrounds, who will serve in varied settings. Our Seminary community reflects the uniqueness of its members while being knit together in love with one purpose of serving God. We value open dialogue as our students sharpen one another.
- Location, location, location. Urbana Theological Seminary is strategically located. Champaign-Urbana is the home of a major research university and is a crossroads for the diversity of global culture. At the same time, the small town, neighborly atmosphere provides a relaxed environment for learning and opportunities to represent a Christian world view.
Who Are Our Students?
Urbana Theological Seminary students are exceedingly diverse in their socio-economic backgrounds, ethnicities, and ages. They come with a variety of goals—some heading to pastoral ministry, others to missions, or others as laypersons who want further training for their involvement in a church. Our students come from all age groups. Since we are interdenominational we attract students from a broad range of church backgrounds. As we grow and attract students from across the United States, and internationally, we anticipate that we will maintain and increase the diversity of our student population.
