Description: A general historical survey of the Christian movement from the Protestant Reformation to the present. Attention is given to movements, significant ideas, individuals, crises, institutions, and turning popints in the development of Christianity during the Reformation and modern periods.

Description: A study of the history and development of the doctrine of the atonement in the Christian faith, from the Church Fathers and Medieval interpretations to the developments in the Reformation and modern theology and contemporary developments. This course will also offer a critical analysis of the latest trends in atonement theology, the non-violent atonement.
MN 740 – 100 The Christian and the Environment: A Practical Theology of Eco-Stewardship

Description: Considers the biblical and theological basis for responsible stewardship of the environment, as well as the ethical implications and practical outworking of a commitment to continue God’s creative work through caring for the planet. This course is tied in with the STEWARDship conference to be held in Champaign-Urbana, June 3-5, and co-sponsored by the University of Illinois and Urbana Seminary. The student will participate in the conference as well as attend classes and prepare assignments. Prerequisite: Consent of the instructors and enrollment in the conference. Information about the course and the conference will be available through the Seminary office.
