Facilities

Currently Urbana Theological Seminary has its offices and library in Champaign, IL. The school rents the third floor of the Baptist Student Foundation at 314 E. Daniel Street under the terms of a shared space agreement. Classes are held at several sites around the cities of Champaign, Urbana, and Savoy. For a list of current classroom facilities visit Course Locations.

Library

Currently, our library contains a growing collection of approximately 5,000 volumes and a small collection of journals. Computer and internet access are available. Our librarian oversees the collection and provides library services (such as circulation, location of resources, and interlibrary loan arrangements) for our students. Click here to visit our library’s webpage.

Access to other libraries

Urbana Theological Seminary has secured a written agreement with the nationally respected University of Illinois library at Champaign/Urbana which will allow our students to have full access to their collections and technology. As a Urbana Theological Seminary student in a degree-seeking program you are granted the privilege of access to the University of Illinois library stacks. The official letter that permits you to receive a U of I stacks pass is distributed at the beginning of your first semester as a Urbana Theological Seminary student. This allows the student to access approximately 350,000 additional titles in the theological disciplines and another 360,000 in relevant and closely related disciplines.

Student Activities

Opportunities for our students to get together are intended to deepen the community experience that is part of Urbana Theological Seminary. Besides encouraging student fellowship and get togethers on a student initiated basis, there are also occasions on which the whole seminary community gathers. Each year we hold a Christmas party at the President's house that all students are invited to attend. Corporate worship is a vital aspect of any community of faith and thus at Urbana Theological Seminary we plan a seminary chapel service on a regular basis led by faculty, students and special guests. The Urbana Theological Seminary Lectures bring together the whole community and its friends to hear a scholar or Christian leader of note from outside the Seminary (The first Urbana Theological Seminary Lecture was held in 2004 with Dr. J. Christopher Wright from England.). Further student life opportunities are being developed by the Seminary.

Seminary Lectures

Throughout the year Urbana Theological Seminary hosts lectures on topics such as “Finding God’s Will” and “Pursuing Methuselah”. We encourage all students to attend and here the latest findings on these and many other topics.

Concert of Prayer

Once each semester the seminary comes together to pray for the school. Students, faculty, staff, board members, and friends participate in this time to worship God through prayer.
