Master of Arts in Religion graduate, May 2010

In May 2010 I graduated from Urbana Seminary with a Master of Arts in Religion degree. Since then I have been filling pulpits and assisting Pastor Brian as needed at First Baptist Church of Mahomet, IL. We have also begun New Commandment Ministry, which assists widows, widowers and single and divorced mothers with various needs (i.e. snow removal, doctor’s visits and household repairs). Urbana Seminary has allowed me to become more knowledgeable about Biblical teaching as it relates to the truth and genius of Jesus, The Christ. I am prepared to speak the truth of Christ and make it meaningful and relevant to 21st century seekers.

Before seminary I felt called by the Holy Spirit to do more than I was already doing. While at Urbana Seminary I found reconciling some of God’s actions in the Old Testament to the teachings of Jesus to be challenging. The professors’ willingness to meet me on the ground of my own doubt and confusion, without talking down to me, was extremely valuable. Dr. Daly and Prof. McQueen are gifted teachers. There is no question they avoid taking on.

If I had some advice to offer new Urbana Seminary students it would be to remove all of your fences and listen ardently for the voice of the Holy Spirit, who is surely speaking to you.
